A few weeks ago I was contacted by a clothing company who wanted to gift me some items in exchange for a blog post. Of course as with anything I checked out the store first, I have had to turn some companies down when it comes to gifting, as if I genuinely don’t like the clothes I can’t accept them and I feel inauthentic. So to my delight there were some items I really loved, the website has a cool laid back vibe and I think that there is definitely something for everyone. I chose a really cool pair of flat sandals adorned with pompoms that are super bright and really gorgeous for summer, next I chose a beautiful blouse with a bird print on, which looks great teamed with skinny jeans and I am equally looking forward to wearing it on my holidays with denim cut offs or as a cover up on the beach, the last item I chose was a really lovely necklace which is really bohemian and has that hippie style I love. The price range is super affordable and the quality of the items is great, so in all I am a very happy bunny (What girl isn’t at the prospect of free clothes!) The bag I styled the blouse with is from my collection I am selling, you can email me for more details (Shameless plug there for myself!!) I hope you like the items and if you want to check out the website it is http://www.joebrowns.co.uk
Currently listening to Pharrell Williams new album Girl, favourite one (Its the rudest but I love the beat!) Gush!
Hey guys, I thought I would let you all in on a business venture I have decided to embark on. The first reason I have decided to do this is because, basically I love fashion and for the past six months or so I have been going through some sort of intense spiritual awakening, It has made me become more conscious about the way I shop (eat, think, conduct myself, everything… But that’s a whole other blog post!) What is so lovely about the items I am importing is that the artisans all over the world are directly benefitting from the profits and there is no use of sweat shops or child/slave labour involved, which unfortunately is how most mass produced clothing is made. Secondly I have always absolutely love love loved bohemian laid back style and I like having one off pieces and styling them up with tons of jewellery and as I was shopping around for my summer wardrobe I was realising the lack of vibrant, unique items around (I still love the high street, but sometimes you just want something nobody else has!) All of the pieces I have are ethically made, using vintage fabrics and a lot of the jewellery are antique items, no two will ever be the same. I will also be selling lots of Mala beads, Crystal jewellery and lots of other meaningful items. My beautiful sister in law has modelled for me some of the cool harem trousers I am selling, I think I have turned her into a complete hippie and I have to say she suits it so much. If you would like more info you can email me on firstname.lastname@example.org Or you can follow me on Instagram @girlofthesun Hopefully this is the start of something wonderful and I would just like to express some gratitude for the positive response I’ve had so far. Here is just a little taster of what’s to come. Hope you all have an amazing weekend. Love & Light!
This simple soup is my go to if I need to go food shopping or just need to eat something really comforting. I love homemade soups as I like to know exactly what is going into the food my family and I are eating. Also ideal for vegetarians, as a starter or chilled in warmer climates. Packed with absolute goodness, super easy to make and really quick, you can’t go wrong! As always you can add whatever you like as you go along, experimenting is all part of the fun, but this recipe is fool proof and tastes delicious. If you’re on a budget it’s really cost effective and incredibly filling. Served with some crusty bread and a little crème fraiche this super healthy meal will definitely become a firm favourite in your home as it has in ours. Download must Tove Lo Featuring Hippie Sabotage ‘Stay High’ Amazing! Enjoy!

Well you could say I’ve had quite the hiatus from the world of blogging, life is just super busy! I can’t promise anything, but I am slowly dipping my toe back in and really wanted to share these wonderful pictures with you guys. As always when I don’t have time to blog I miss it like crazy as I love writing so much, So it feels good to be expressing myself again. Anyway a few weeks ago my super talented friend, over at wilsonkphotography.wordpress.com and I decided to do an ‘Earth Mummy’ kind of shoot, I wanted it to really reflect not only my style but also my style of parenting and the vibe of my family which is super laid back and bohemian (I can see myself retreating to a hippie commune very soon!) I chose the location of my parents garden, which is just overrun with beautiful bluebells and idyllic for what we had in mind, I styled us all up and let Kellie work her magic. If any of you guys are looking for a photographer I cannot recommend her enough, Sonny is the hardest person ever to capture and she managed to get some magical shots of him. I am absolutely delighted with the pictures and couldn’t of wished for anything more, Kellie & I make a great team as we totally get each others vision. The perks of having talented friends are endless 😉 So I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do and I would just lastly like to say a huge thank you to the people who have still been visiting my blog, I am astounded the stats have been so high even though I’ve been M.I.A!
My music recommendation of the moment is Chromeo & Solange ‘Lost on the way home’ (I’ve always been a lover of Solange & even more so since she bust up Jay Z haha!) Jokes of course!! A book I cannot recommend enough is Eckart Tolle ‘The power of now’ An oldie but oh so much of a goodie, a must read for anyone who wonders about the meaning of life.
My Outfit; Red Dress; H&M, Cream Dress Over; Free People. Isabella’s Outfit; Jones & Jones. Sonny’s Outfit; Jumper; Next, Chino’s; Zara.
Recently there has been a massive awakening to the powers of juicing, which is fantastic to see, as the benefits to our health our simply wonderous. I have been juicing for around ten years, It was actually my dad who bought me my first juicer and I found it the most effective way to give my then two year old daughter her daily intake (and much more) of nutrients. As a parent, I think, the main gift you can give your Children is, the most optimum nutrition you can, as a solid ground for their growth, development, energy and the prevention of disease to name a few! Also educating them on how important a good diet is puts them in good stead for when they’re out of your clutches and fly the nest…. (Although I can see myself as that scary stalker kind of mum who follows them to Uni and gate crashes night outs, no escaping little guys!) At the moment my preferred juicer is the Philips ‘Avance’ it’s super easy to use and clean, Which as any fellow juicer will tell you the cleaning is one pain in the ass! Also the ‘Juice Master’ Jason Vale, Who’s book I cannot recommend enough, uses the Philips line of juicers. The beauty of juicing is that anything goes, there are some really amazing recipes in Jason’s book, from combatting colds and flu, eczema, losing weight and (the most important) the hangover helper! Mostly I just try to pack as many veggies in as I can, adding fruit for some natural sweetness. I personally prefer juices to smoothie’s as I like the consistency of the juice as opposed to the thickness of a smoothie, of course you can combine the two a pineapple, mango, cucumber and apple juice whizzed up in the blender with some ice and almond milk is delicious. Since reading about the Japanese recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetables being 17 compared to the UK’s 5, I have been trying to aim for that, considering Japan has one of the healthiest nations and the longest life expectancy it is definitely worth taking heed. Buying a juicer and getting into the habit of making one for you and your family every morning is the best investment you will ever make, the life giving energy, pure and natural liquid that flows inside every fruit and vegetable is what needs to pass our lips every single day, beauty definitely comes from within and I can guarantee you will see a difference in your skin, hair, nails and over all well being from starting this juice discovery. Top your morning juice with some chia seeds and you will be a little ball of pure health 🙂
As I’ve said before how I dress my Children is definitely a reflection of me and although I try not to totally supress their own creative style (reverse psychology is the key!) I do try to steer them in the right direction when choosing their outfits…. the right direction being Mummy’s choice! I joke of course, but I am quite lucky as I seem to have two stylish off springs, especially my daughter who has a great eye for fashion. This simple little outfit is great for this transitional/tween age that she is at now and although we both prefer more muted tones the red tights, with the black and white boucle coat, give it a much needed ‘pop’ of colour. Its an amazing age she is at now, as she really enjoys shopping and picking her own outfits, I cherish our girly days together and watching her grow in to a delightful little lady. I’m sure the mood swings will kick in soon though, she’s thirteen in April…. I swear this is when I will probably end up running away! I am conscience of always drumming it into her that physicality is not everything also, as society is so focused on appearance, I want her to be confident that her personality, brain and sense of humour are just as important, I probably drive her crazy, but I never want her to think she has to be a superficial bimbo to ‘fit in’. Anyway (rant over) I love her hair just left flowing naturally and it looks super cute with the simple twists to the side. I try to buy mostly clothes I can mix and match for all of us, so this is a look that can easily be recreated. Currently listening to Route 94 feat Jess Glynne ‘My love’ So so good! Happy Wednesday guys…. Fridays on it’s way, hang in there 😉
So It’s been a while, so long that I actually feel like a kind of fraud writing this, but alas theladyisnotramp is back in action! Life has been pretty hectic lately and due to some personal issues my blog has took a nose dive. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year, I would like to wish you all a very prosperous 2014 filled with love and light (even though it’s almost February, I guess I’m a little late to the party!) This is a simple outfit I wore to go for a lunch with the girls, the trousers are part of a suit I bought from Zara, Which looks great together but I love mixing it up also. The coat is vintage, it is my favourite fabric boucle, it has that Chanel esque vibe about it. Teamed with a simple black jumper and an effortless pony tail this is the perfect luncheon outfit. Currently obsessing over Sam Smith’s new song ‘Money on my mind’ and Route 94 ‘My love’ my song’s of the week. Hope you all have a great Friday, it feels good to be back 🙂
